I love the dramatic dark background against the bright flowers. I used a 10x10 inch canvas for this painting tutorial but I’ve painted flowers like these on a larger canvas, as well, and I encourage you to try it!

Cloudy Sky Painting Tutorial for Patreon

I’ve got a new acrylic painting tutorial on my Patreon page. In this tutorial, I’m playing around with my Golden Open acrylic paints. If you’re not familiar with the open series, they have a much slower drying time than regular acrylics. The slow drying time makes the acrylics much easier to blend.

For this painting, I started off by creating an abstract underpainting with some blue, green, and yellow paint. Then I painted in the negative space to create a basic floral shape. Last, I build up my flowers with layers of acrylic paint!
